Hello everyone!
Elloquently tutors joined the Minnesota Writing and English Conference (MnWE) on March 25th and 26th!
The three Elloquently co-founders (Zhen Tu, Timmy Tu, and Arush Iyer) and Linda Clemens (one of the Elloquently advisors) presented on how the organization was started last summer with the goal of making cultural connections with people around the world through teaching and learning English during the pandemic.
Elloquently high school tutors from three countries presented on their experience of tutoring and learning on Zoom: Veronica Sikorski from Central High School, St. Paul, Minnesota; Rita Li from Math and Science Academy, Woodbury, MN; Diana Gateno from Balboa Academy, Panama City, Panama; and Brian Wang, from Ontario, Canada.
Zhen Tu and Ryuto Hashimoto were in a panel with three college students (two from China and one from Germany) to discuss and reflect on their college experiences during the pandemic: how they have been coping with different kinds of challenges, what they have learned, and how these experiences will impact the ways they see the world, their community, and their future.
Ryuto also joined faculty, staff, and fellow students from Century College in a panel that focuses on helping students from diverse backgrounds acquire academic literacy through tutoring.
Thank you WnWE for your warm support for Elloquently. We look forward to the next conference in 2022!
